“Latiff, a famous but lonely photographer who was orphaned as a small child, sets out on an expedition to 
photograph abandoned houses around Malaysia. On his journey he is haunted by images and sounds that remind him of his traumatic childhood.
At one particular house on the island of Penang he is transported back through time to witness the shocking events that took place in the house over 50 years ago.Through his experience, Latiff understands the tragic circumstances that led to him being orphaned and also finds an old friend”.

I dont like this film. It potrays another stereotypical, white man chasing asian chicks in order for fetishm and exoticness. This is the same media propaganda that has been playing over and over again in US. Thus creates more ‘selloutism’ among asian chicks. This shows how media conditioning would make non white males looks like a wimp, emasculated while potraying white men as the world savior, usually end up having a love affair with a white man. While considering, asian males never get any love affair in American Media mainstream, this malaysian made film is trying to evelevate the superiorities issues among white( considering colonizer). Last last, anak2 perempuan melayu buka kangkang untuk mat salleh but refuse to date malay guys(since they would think such media conditioning that white is better than; etc attractiveness, soci-economic), and eventually create the atmosphere of self hatred( ayo perlu ke nak kawin ngan penjajah, ala ala yang carik tergila2 kan asian ni sumer ‘white rejects’, tu pasal berlambak mat salleh hodoh2 datang asia sebab diorang ni rejects di bumi sendiri, kita plak terhegeh2 nak bubuh mat salleh dalam film kita, meng elevatekan mereka, ishk…dasar tak sedar diri). we can be open minded but there is a fine line between ‘assimilation’ and desperate for social climbing.
My perception solely based on how eastern people adore and worship white people. Just look, when they come to our soil, we treat them like a prince, though, for most people who have been living overseas who are aware with the situation about how ‘white’ people is considered as superior race. Where infact, they are not, but just merely a colonizer. For who ever interested to talk about this topic, i suggest you to read ‘orientalism’ by edward said where in fact how colonizer(white) label eastern as the opposite of west, in short, anything from east is uncivilized. Thats why lah, sometime, when we rebell, we think that our cultural values are too conservatives where in fact, everyone on this earth, regardless race, their upbringings are as consevatives as others. I feel pity for those who are not aware about media conditioning. We over valuing westerns people. We think they are the best. It is sad for me to see some malay chicks/guys who come here to the US, and then, start bragging their social life with mat salleh or in an extreme case, ‘i only date whites, i dont date malays, because i have a thing with mixed babies’. Ini adalah contoh, self hatred, because who ever says statement like this ashamed to have a pure malay babies(aik , bayi melayu tak cukup cantik ka?). Thus, to associate with white people, is to feel ‘cooler’ than anybody, to feel sociall accepted or elevated and at the same time trying to ridicule asian cultures.On the other hand, most white people dont ever consider to date non white, especially the good looking mat salleh because they know, ‘my race is better’. But, some mat salleh who are the rejects( who give up finding partners among their own race, usually because they are ugly, incapable to survive in their own social status, in short, ‘white rejects’) terpaksalah carik or settle dengan minah asian yang tergila2kan mat salleh. White rejects have issue of superiorites and entitlement thus having an asian chick giving them ‘power’ or ‘control’ due to strong stereotypes towards minorities such as asian females( as being submissive, geisha looking, obedient, so on ). While asian chicks who usually fall for white guys because of the media conditioning, over valuing white people, lantas, tak sedar diri. Even some of them would claim, try to assimilate but when you start bragging and feeling better due to association with white people. that is gone wrong. Apa? all mat salleh look like brad pitt? ever realize that most mat salleh who kawin dengan minah melayu or asian are mostly old bald and ugly or geeky. yes exactly. they are the rejects.but most asian chicks are too naive. apa? suma mat salleh muka cam brad pitt ka? even michelle yeoh kawin dengan orang tua mat salleh burok, i mean, come on, there are plenty good looking chinese guys…and why pick the ‘white rejects’? …well..because having a white boy is like having a trophy, bangga because she thinks white is better so rasa bestlah…i dont know how to summarize this issue articulately. but i hope people would educate their kids not to fall to this kinda of crap, because at the end, whatever Hang Tuah said, ‘takkan hilang melayu..’…prolly would be lost in translation if people are not awaken yet….while continue adoring..worshipping..westerns values…in short, white people laaahhh
Well…i dont know if anyone will ever read this cos i guess Im bit too slow finding this issue. I cant seem to agree with Bingo… well not all Mat Salleh that is married to Asian are old & ugly. Im married to a Mat Salleh too and he is young ( 35) and im (33) and he is definitely not ugly but aint looking like Brad Pitt either. I chose to be with him not because malay guys sucks!! though i have to admit i have bad experience with them..but it’s just how you want to see the situation as. You can see the same situation with different angles. I appreciate that Im married to him as because his courage I am now a Masters holder, I am mother of 3 big boys and I am proud to be malay too… though i am not a pure malay either ( my granddad is dutch) but i regard myself as malay and i dont just kangkang myself to be with mat salleh… different people have different preference and its nothing wrong with it. Malay people need to change their perceptions of other races, dont be judgemental but be optimistic and maybe put more effort in developing oneself/ country rather than pointing out other’s weaknesses. Please dont be mad ….sorry if Im wrong .. 
Bingo, did you just address the malay women as ‘asian/malay chics’? For someone trying to upthold the martabad of a malay lady, you have just rediculed yourself. Fighting for ones’ race does not mean rediculing another. Islam teaches us that we should never point fingers to others saying that they are wrong to prove ourselves right.
Please let me know if the film, The Red Kebaya, has been released in DVD. If so, kindly let me know where I can purchase a copy from a supplier either imn Singapore or in Malaysia.
